Expository Writing Essay -- Teaching Education

Expository Writing I really don't have any idea on where to start this paper, where it should go, and how it should end. It seems that I'm having a slight problem grasping the idea of expository writing. It's like when you were a kid trying to make it all the way across the monkey bars. You want to be able to reach that next rung and you try very hard, but somehow you just can't reach it. I seem to be having that problem. Right now, as I write, I'm not exactly sure I'm reaching the goal of this assignment, but this may be the best that it gets. All through elementary school, high school, and my freshman year of college, I was taught (and believed it was the only right way) that you must start your paper with a introduction, followed by the body of the paper, and wrap up your main thoughts in the conclusion. Although, in the past three weeks, I have learned that writing can go beyond those boundaries. Now, isn't that a shock after all these years of "formal education". It just doesn't seem right not to construct a paper in the way I have always done in the past, or should I say as this bad habit I've always had. But is actually bad? It always appeared to fit me just right. I am not planning a career in writing. I only want to add and subtract numbers, things that make sense to me. These are the things I understand, to some extent anyhow. There is no alternate interpretation of fourteen minus seven. It will always be seven, no matter how you look at it or who looks at it. It will always be seven. There is one definite answer and if you get it wrong, you're just plain wrong. No ifs, ands, or buts about it. No one can decide that on some particular day that fourteen minus seven is eight. It is impossible. The answer will, f... ...convey your message and get the reaction(s) you want, what is there to change? How about leaving well enough alone? If it's not broke, why fix it? As I look back through this paper, I am not certain I have met the requirements of this writing assignment. I feel as though I am still trying the reach that next bar on the monkey bars as I did when I was young. No matter how much I struggle and lunge for the next rung, it is just barely out of my reach. But in all actuality, is that what I'm really trying to accomplish? Is just reaching the next rung my main objective? No, reaching the end of the monkey bars is my goal. As for right now, I would be happy just reaching that next rung. As my first paper in approximately two years, I hope it is not too terribly bad. As the quarter progresses, I hope to improve in this writing style that is all too new and foreign to me.

Reflective Journal Essay

The fighting spirit. What a catchy name for a title of an article that touched my heart deeply and had stirred emotions of mine. I have known this humble gentleman since the day I stepped my foot on Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM), Shah Alam. We were introduced to this awe-inspiring person named Prof Datuk Seri Dr Sahol Hamid Abu Bakar during our orientation week. I have grown my fondness towards this man on the exact moment he started to give speech upon hundreds of fresh newbies in our great hall, Dewan Seri Budiman. But I never thought in my slightest mind on how his previous life story would give me this impact. One would never know, behind those smiles he put on his face, there were hardships, long ago before he made it to be a successful, acknowledged person now. I can finally understand what life is. God put us in a difficult situation just to make us stronger and to teach us how to cope with troubles when there are obstacles come between in the middle of journey. I really look up on Datuk Sahol Hamid as he was very determined to achieve his dream. How he keeps the humbleness in his daily routines although he is now an engineer in profession, really made me realize that I have to keep in my mind, I should never forget where I came from if one day, God’s willing; I managed to grab my dream in the future. Just like Datok Sahol himself, he always reminds the UiTMs’ students to never forget our duty to Allah S.W.T in spite of the busy and hectic schedule of a student. Above all, I must thank my parents for bringing me up to who I am today. For being patient with my attitudes all these while as I consider myself was not very matured during those days. After all, God’s plan is like a movie, all the good and bad things are arranged together for the good ending.

The importance of working in partnership with others 3. 1 Understand why it is important to work in partnership with carers, families, advocates and others who are significant to an individual It is essential that you work in partnership with all of the people surrounding the individuals you are supporting in order to ensure the best possible support and care is provided.This will include carers, families, advocates and other people who are sometimes called â€Å"significant others†. In order to work well in partnership, there has to be good communication and you will need to have good communication skills. Advocates are people who support individuals and help them to explain and say what they want and need to maintain their wellbeing. They help to ensure the individual’s views are heard so their needs can be met and their problems sorted out. They can act as an intermediary when th ere is a difference of opinion.Unpaid carers provide unpaid support to a relative, friend, partner etc. Significant others can be anyone who is â€Å"significant† to the individual you are supporting e. g. their partner, their children, a neighbour, their best friend, a priest, a guide dog. Other people may be able to provide useful information to support you in your work and you may be able to provide useful information to support them in being part of the individual’s lives. This is good partnership working. The Mental Capacity Act provides a statutory framework for people who lack capacity to make decisions for themselves, or who have capacity and want to make preparations for a time when they may lack capacity in the future. It sets out who can take decisions, in which situations, and how they should go about this.The legal framework is supported by this Code of Practice which provides guidance and information about how the Act works in practice. The Code has statutory force, which means that certain categories of people have a legal duty to have regard to it when working with or caring for adults who may lack capacity to make decisions for themselves. This includes care and support workers and the Code provides guidance to anyone who is working with and / or caring for adults who may lack capacity to make particular decisions.The term ‘a person who lacks capacity’ means a person who is unable to make a particular decision or take a particular action for themselves at the time the decision or action needs to be taken. Legible means clear, readable and understandable. It could be harmful to an individual if other people cannot read what you have written, for example in a care plan about the way the individual is feeling. Records must always be factual and not an opinion. They should include the correct date and a full signature of the person writing the record. It is also recommended to use black ink. Some documents will only accept black ink.Information must not be crossed out or covered using correction fluid. Always record any information given to you by an individual even if you think it is trivial because it might help someone else. Always check an individual’s care and support plan before working with them as there may have been changes since you last worked with the individual, even if it was only a short time ago. 4. 3 Be aware of agreed procedures for: – Recording information – Storing information – Sharing information Records can be stored electronically on computers or as paper documents which can be typed or handwritten.Computers must be password protected and it is recommended that individual documents are also password protected.
